It's because it's a simple celled form of life, so it can be frozen. You can vaugley think of it like the way a Sea Monkey egg can remain in the packet for decades before it comes to life in water.

The embryo is nevertheless, alive. If it wasn't, it could never grow. There is a difference between live embryos and dead ones. No one pays fertility clinics to be inseminated with a dead embryo.

It's also human. If it wasn't, it would never become a human being.

They are suspended in time. That is as accurate of an answer as you will receive. The cells are no longer moving, it is the near cessation of time.

Biological death can be thought of as the breakdown of our cells. Frozen embryos are not going through this process.

Lots of living things can be frozen and then go on living. How do you think many insects and amphibians get through the winter in cold habitats? The fact that YOU can't do it doesn't prove anything.

Live goldfish can be frozen, unfrozen, and live to, if not tell the tale, swim through that cool castle one more time. <@//><

So hypothetically, if we could put an adult in suspended animation, he wouldn't be alive any more?

I love it when people's morality depends on the present state of technology. It gives me such confidence in their objectivity.
