hey everyone, my boyfriend had left for ft benning BCT about 3 weeks ago, and needless to say..i miss him a lot...
before he left he told me that he won't be able to write for a while because of the "total control" and/or "red phase" all BCT soldiers must go through..
but it's been...3 weeks? and i still haven't heard from him...i don't have his address because he was supposed to write to me from his barracks.
so has anyone graduately from ft benning recently? how long do the soldiers in BCT (FT BENNING) usually have to wait until they can write to their friends/family freely?
any help would be greatly appreciated.. =]

My son is graduating from basic/AIT this Friday. "Red phase' is no fun and your soldier has very little free time (and if he is smart he spends that catching up on sleep).

Initially his communications will be very limited. He will be allowed to call his family (once) to let them know he arrived safely. And probably only had time to write one or two letters.

Your best bet is to contact his family. They should have heard from him and gotten a letter from his commander telling them what to expect.

Once you get his address - write him a letter and include a packet of postage stamps. (Most soldiers reporting to basic forget to bring stamps and they are not allowed to go and buy any.)

Other than that - have patience.

You Can Take Your Cell Phone But They Will Lock It Up In A Crate With The Rest Of Your Personal Belongings In A Closet Like Room, You Get Them Back Usually The Last Week Of Your Training Or Right Before Graduation. And Yes Infantry Does Go To Benning Yes Its The Hardest And The Hardest And Toughest Boot Camp Out There You Will Be Separate. Most Of The Infantry Unit Ships Out Today.

Try to be patient. I went to Ft. Benning about 4 years ago for bct. I was in reception (30th AG) for about 12 days when i first got there.this is like a place where you wait untill your BCT starts. I was able to call my parents one time for 30 seconds, I think i was able to write letters though, but i didn't because I was kinda in shock for a few days. every company is prolly different, but I could write mail, if i had time, whenever i wanted. However, i dont recall having to much time to write letters, and even when i did have time, I never had time to buy stamps. So just be patient. hope that helps a little bit.

When my husband went through basic at Ft Benning it was just over a month before I heard from him. Be patient...you should hear from him in a few days but don't expect to get many phone calls (and they only last a few minutes usually) and they don't get alot of time for letter writing either (personal time isn't always time to write letters...they have to do other stuff too)
Hang in there...it's already been 3 weeks (always look at the time taht's already gone and not how much is left or you'll drive yourself crazy!)

As far as I know, they allow you to write letters home during your free time at the end of the training day. In fact, they encourage you to write home and to your other loved ones, because this gives the army an image of caring for its soldiers.

My best friend in now at Wespoint but his junior year in high school he went to BCT at Benning.

He sent me a letter after just a few weeks and I sent him one right after that. Inless there are special cases.

Id hate to assume this but your boyfriend may just be being an *** and not want to be botherd by letters so he can concentrate on graduating.

BTW, I graduated from FT. Jackson and there were NO problems sending letters, so ???

Anyhow, hope this helps!

Well you can contact the barracks. If by chance, you can talk to him if you can get through their stubborn operators who rarely let people talk to the trainees. If not, you have to wait. His training may got harder and harder to keep up. Remember, once they train they go straight to sleep. Being in boot camp is the hardest thing in the world at the beginning because trainees take whatever chance they have to rest up before more training. It is tough. He may not have the chance to write at all because he is tired from all of the training.

My son went there last year, he just told me to tell you it is the hardest one out there and you can try to think you are prepared, but you could never really be prepared for what they are going to make you do and do to you. My son went in a boy and came out a man, but then again he just called me mommy. LOL
