A Himalayan is a Persian with colorpoints. If the cats body is white or cream and there is a darker color on the ears, nose, feet and tail and sometimes along the back, then it is a Himalayan (think long haired Siamese). A solid color, bi-colored, tuxedo, calico, torti, tabby, etc, are all Persians. Does that make sense? Click here for more details about it http://himsnpurrs.com/HimmyPersian.htm

Oh about the smashed face, there are old style/traditional/doll face Persians and Himalayans and also the extremely flat faced pug like faces which are newer. Either one is still a Persian or Himalayan.

Sure, why not? All are quite laidback breeds. I have Persian, an Exotic Shorthair and a Ragamuffin (offshoot breed of Ragdoll) and they were all adopted as adults and all readily accepted eachother. The key is SLOWLY introducing them. Put the new cat in a room with its own food, water and litter. Put a tshirt in with the cat to get its smell on it and then put the shirt with the existing cat then back again. Once both cats seem relaxed and interested THEN let them interact with eachother while you supervise. Instead of getting a Himalayan from a breeder have you thought about checking shelters for one? Persians and Himalayans are very high maintenance cats and are sadly one of the most often surrendered breeds at shelters. Percy, the Persian in my avatar, was found as a stray in Seattle and no one claimed him. I adopted him two years ago when he was 2 1/2.

A himalayan is a long-haired cat with Siamese-like markings. Purebred Himalalyans and Siameses do NOT have stripes. Persians have smushed-in noses, similar to a Pug or Pekingese dog. Your cat sounds like a Persian mix to me, it's possible that he's a Persian and Himalayan mix, but I'd really need a picture to pin it down further.

Persian is a breed of cat, Himalayan is a color pattern.

Persians and Himalayans look very similar. The difference is that Himalayans have darker points (ear tips) like Siamese cats but are flat faced and bushy haired like Persians.

The flat nose sounds more like a persian, however the markings sound like a flame point in the siamese family. Either way, it sounds like a mixed breed. They are beautiful cats. Just keep it brushed because the persian cat hair will tend to "matt" up. What your persian........if it has the typical flat nose. Many times, the persian's have like little respiratory infections. Not because probably anything is wrong, especially if it is a house cat, but because of the anatomy of their nose, they tend to have a difficult time breathing when they get even the slightest little cold. Hope this helps.....Good luck!

I have a himalayan cat. She is whitish-grey, which the papers say is a Seal color. The Himalayan breed is actually a type of Persian, so if you have a Himalayan, you have a Persian. You can check more out at this site:

a himilayan generally looks like a persian/siamese cross (which is what himilayan's are by the way) siamese color/persian face fur etc.
sounds like you have a persian crossed with some other kind of cat.
