Well knowing that rape is not about sex, it's about power. The Justice system makes the victim feel like they are part of bringing it on. If I had my way they should cut off his manhood and he will not be doing that again. Jail is not the answer, most do it again. Honestly these people should be taken out, they are a waste of a human being and shouldn't be wasting our air! Just a honest opinion who had a sister raped and sodomized.

What do you do? You support her in anyway you can. First by making sure that she reports it. Go with her if she wants. Then, make sure she gets checked at the hospital. If they give her meds make sure she takes them.
Then encourage her to find counseling. This is a very traumatic event and sometimes women just want to forget about it. But they need to deal with it.
Be patient and understanding. They may become afraid to be alone, afraid to go out by themselves. They may become very angry and want to take the law in their own hands. They may not want to have anything to do with you if you're a guy simply because you are a guy. Don't be offended. It's not your fault. Don't be surprised if they don't want to be touched but don't avoid them either. They may already feel like they are "untouchable" as it is. Offer a hug or a shoulder to cry on. If they say no, don't take it personally.
Watch their body language and look for non-verbal hints to how they feel. Don't expect them to come right out and say what they need or don't need. You wil have to be a bit of a detective.
Be patient. Recovery from something like this can take a long time.
Leave the punishment to the police. Getting revenge will only get you in trouble and if you end up in jail, how are you going to help the women in your life?

The first thing I would want to do is hurt them. But you won't help them if you do that - unless of course they are in danger (being raped) when you catch him. You protect them first (making sure they are away from him and know how to protect themselves and of course calling the police is the first and most important - file that report!), educate yourself second. Revenge is sweet if they are forever punished for their crime - but you won't do them any favors getting yourself locked up for the revenge.
Learn what it takes to prosecute them, make it happen. But in the meantime you need to learn how to talk and listen to them - there are many rape crisis lines you can call (I don't know where you live, but I am sure there is one close or toll free). Those lines aren't just for those that have been raped, but for those helping them through it. Don't do anything stupid... they obviously need someone in their life that cares like you do.
God Bless!

I wouldn't care whether it was mother, sister, father, or brother that got raped, I'd find a way to get that mother trucker but good.
