I would not have to change the way I live at all if I became a Christian. So that sort of breaks down that argument a little.

lol Dude, my life isn't that exciting.
I'm a normal woman - a stay at home mom for now. I'm too tender hearted - so much everyone says (I cried for hours when I saw a dog get run over when I was a kid... that kind of thing); and, I don't enjoy conflict.
I can't think of any deeds I should be "ashamed" of. Sure I've done some stupid things in my life - who hasn't? - but, they were learning experiences not a mark of shame.
So, no, it's not a "comfort for people ashamed of their deeds in this life".

I'm not an atheist though I do consider myself to be a freethinker and I don't subscribe to the belief in a personal God. My non belief has nothing to do with any evil deeds I've done it has to do with the fantastical claims of religion that simply don't make sense when reason and logic are applied to them.
And while we are speaking of morality tell me this, what could posibly be anymore immoral than a deity creating millions upon millions of human knowing in advance that they would not choose salvation and would be going to hell. The doctrine of predestination as taught in most Chrstian churches is about the most immoral idea that has ever ben created.

How would believing you only have this life and your self to count on in it be comforting. There are no crutches available as in Christianity to provide the"comfort" you speak of. Personally I bought a Sealy Memory Foam Matress. I have nothing to be ashamed of. The mistakes I have made I have learned from.

I am not comforted by the fact that there is no god I'm a realist it only makes me smarter. i am not wasting my energy and life on something that is shoved down everyones throats. Religion is not the way.

Considering no one is born believing in god(s), everyone is born an atheist. Are you saying that all babies are ashamed of their deeds in life? Horrible counter question.

No, I am not an atheist because of shame. I am an atheist because I sat down and examined my religious beliefs. I realized that I was forcing myself to believe things I knew were not true. I call it being honest with myself. Do I have things I am ashamed of in my life? Sure, we all do, but it has nothing to do with my lack of belief in God.

Not an atheist, but no. Most atheists are atheists because they do not believe in god. Any decisions about morals come after that; they don't choose to be atheists because they want to be immoral and not answer for it.

I understand that they don't want to follow God and the teachings of the Bible--written by God.
I, myself, am a Christian, because I believe in the promises of the Bible. PLUS, I believe in Jesus Christ and tha tHe forgave me of all my sins.
I am NOT AFRAID TO DIE. Heaven awaits.
