What is causing the heater display on my 1986 Nissan 300ZX Turbo not to work? Can control fan, but display is blank. Bad fuse? Bad display? How do I troubleshoot?

use a schematic or replace the heater control or look for the fuse for it.....try all of these least to largest..if your good with a meter find the positive lead to the heater(hot) and ground and look for voltage or continuity

1, always start with fuses when dealing with electrical problems. always replace fuses with fuses of the correct amperage. #2, those digital instrument clusters had problems with the brain boxes. Write me sometime and I can guide you through the repair of them. #3, You could have a bad ground wire somewhere. Nissan's are notorious for poor grounds. #4, Check all the connectors for each of the items you're having problems with and verify they are plugged in correctly. #5, Check all your wiring for spots that are bare, and that no mice have had a lunch consisting of your wiring.
