My BF that I've been w/almost 8 yrs.. He's manipulative, likes to keep busy, and if sitting still just focused on what is important to him. If things aren't his way, he gets upset w/me &gives the silent treatment until he's ready to give in. We can't even have an itimitate dicussion, this has caused major problems in the relationship. I've read about adult ADHD and seems to fit the profile. His mother thinks he was ADD as a child. He gets moody or happy at his discretion, depending if things are going "right in his world". I know he's been married a couple times and probably in a variety of relationships. He's been w/me the longest, probably because I'm doormat and sensitive, putting up with the verbal abusive, so to speak. He is so defensive about himself, probably will never realize or seek help. But does anyone know about Adult ADHD & does this sound like him? I know he won't change or seek change, and know I deserve better, but was wondering about his behavior.

I have Adult ADD, its hard to stay focused and finish things and I know I can irritate other people... do some research on the inexpensive supplement DMAE. I have used it for a few months and it has helped me a lot. Bulknutrition.com has powdered DMAE that can be mixed in juice undetectable. Of course, I'm not advising you to medicate him without his knowledge.

One of the things others don't understand about ADD is that it's frustration with ourselves that makes us get upset. But that does not totally excuse his behavior. What bothers me about your description of him is that you say he won't seek change. If he chooses not to deal with issues, you need a more supportive partner. Don't be a doormat, life is too short.
Blessings.

This sounds like a put-down to all who have ADHD. I know several people who have ADHD, and none of that is true. Sounds more like ODD.

My son is 13 with ADHD and this sounds like him actually. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain that needs to be treated with medicine. http://www.adderallxr.com/adult_adhd/undiagnosed_adhd/adhd_symptoms.asp

He sounds like a jerk. Why are you trying to diagnose him with a disease when he's basically a moron? He doesn't have ADD he's a spoiled brat who's mean, cruel and manipulative.
