I posted a question last week because I had filed my taxes and then received a small, but forgotten W2.

My return was accepted and scheduled to be deposited on Fri...I checked the status through the online system and it said I should receive my refund by 2/13/07. This was as late as this afternoon.

I checked the status again now and no information is available. The page said to mention code 8002, but customer service wasn't helpful when I called and wouldn't check anything because it hasn't been 3 weeks.

Can someone please help me...this was an honest mistake and I needed the refund money desperately.

This has been an ongoing problem for the IRS. I filed 1/17 and it was accepted. I was expecting a deposit on 1/26. Didn't happen. Again on 2/2, didn't happen. I called the IRS after I got a reference code of 1121. They had no clue what that meant when I called the IRS. Was told it would be 2 more weeks. According to several other posts, it is a computer glitch thanks to congress approving some paper work in the year's end. I now have the same code of 8002. Not sure what it means. I was told today by a tax advocate that if I don't have my refund by 2/16 that they can automatically deposit it and then question the IRS. I hope it is done on 2/9, as I despreately need it too. I have been off work for 8 months due to back fusion surgery and no income. I am supporting 3 kids and it has been rough!! Hope I helped!

Just keep checking back and see what the status is. I know that on last Wed morning after checking the status of my daughter's anticipated date of a refund, it changed from Tuesday, Feb 6th to Friday, Feb 2nd and she actually got the deposit on Friday too. I'll bet tomarrow morning it will say you will be getting a direct deposit on Friday, Feb 9th since they do all their direct deposits on Fridays. It's probably a website glitch.

I really don't think it has anything to do with you receiving the additional W-2. That happened to us last year and we already had our refund deposited, and then at the end of Feb another small W-2 came in the mail! We actually did not know what to do but within about 4 months we got a letter from the IRS stating that we did not file correctly and we got an incorrect refund, so after they did all their additional calculations, they said that we actually owed them several hundred dollars. We just set up a monthly payment plan and paid it off in a few months. Very easy and like you, it was an honest mistake. I believe you will have your refund before they even discover a mistake has been made, but you will have to correct it eventually.

Yea the IRS has had some kind of issue with something that was passed in congress recently (I know its vague, sorry) but they have informed those who called that the will be receiving their refunds on or near 2/16.

Hope it helps :(

be affected man or woman. The IRS is understaffed and their application setups at the instantaneous are not being maintained ideas-blowing it truly is growing a backlog of biblical proportions; I have considered refunds in the back of agenda for 2 and three weeks. they're operating as quickly as they're waiting to procedure returns.

I don't know specifically what code 8002 is. I do know it is a website error. The IRS web server couldn't retrieve your information properly. It was probably too busy. I bet it you had tried again 5 minutes later, the problem would not have recurred.
