I know this has been done to death and frequently asked...

But does anyone know if the UK actually shares our criminal record info with the US or Canada? Many people tell me that as long as you don't declare it you will be fine, and then someone else comes along and says they know of someone who has been caught out.

What I want to hear is has anyone actually been caught themselves who can vouch for the fact that the US/Canada and the UK share criminal record information?

In case you're wondering I served 8 months in prison for smuggling ecstasy (a very small amount)...I have been to Spain recently and my own country didnt even bother to check me out on return, so I'm obviously not considered highrisk.

as a border agent for canada custom i can answer your question yes we have access to all database intheus canada and uk, extasy charge are federal offense in canada and theusa and will stop you from coming to canada it does not matter the amount if you got caught you may andwill probably be refused entry to canad and the states the usa can also detained you for 3 month before deporting you back to the uk
your own country did not check you they dont have to they know about your record it spain that should have check you out not the uk
penalty in canada for coming in and not telling the agent at custom is 5 years and 50,000 fines then deportation back and block for life to come back here
the agent will checkwith interpol and the met police for criminal record when you arrived in canada be aware

OK let me give you some facts, Free movement throughout the EEC has no bearing on the North American experience there are Criminals moving freely all over the EC. Since 9-11 Canada the UK and the US Share Info about the movement of Aliens over their borders so if you are stopped for any reason other than a cursory passport check you will be caught

I wouldn't worry just don't say anything on your visa application forms, unless you are a major criminal, a mass murderer, an big-time extorter of money, run a large people smuggling franchise in Asia and Africa you will get through; just don't take any non-prescription drugs - customs still search some people even in the 'Nothing to declare' line.

Anyway the British Home Office can't keep track of its own criminals so an time-served one will not be a worry to them.

I firmly believe that everyone deserves a second or even a third chance but I am not sure that this view is shared with the present neo-con, control-everything British government.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aNE4p

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

I'm not too sure about whether the UK shares this information with the US and Canada, although, with the current political climate and Blair's a*se-licking tendencies, I wouldn't be surprised.
Secondly, coming through passport control at British airports (when entering the UK) is akin to passing through the ticket barriers at Fulham Broadway tube station on a Saturday afternoon when Chelsea are at home, so I wouldn't take that as conclusive evidence either. I'm sure our totalitarian puppet-masters are well aware of your record, it's just that they couldn't give a f*ck about who is entering this country.

I am looking for the answer to this question as well. A freind of mine went to canada and USA on holiday, he has a record and got in no worries, however that was a few years back. My brother wants to go there soon for a wedding, he has a record, we are not sure what to do about it, will he get in, or will you get in, thats the question we need an answer to.

Yes, I can tell you for sure. My new cousin was going to emigrate here from the UK to join his Mom and my uncle. He was in his 20s. He has a criminal record from a few things with an exgirlfriend that he was convicted of. He was here on a temporary Visa...but to live here permanently he was refused on the basis of prior criminal convictions.
