I need help with this...I need to find songs with lyrics that show these things....
nonconformity
self-reliance
free thought
confidence
importance of nature
for each thing has to be a different song. I thought it would be easier than this. Please help. I really need it.

It can either be a song or a piece of literature.

Non-conformity - by Buffalo Springfield "For What it's Worth"
Self-reliance - by R. Kelly "I Believe I can Fly"
Free-thought - by Lynard Skynard "Free Bird"
Confidence - by Irene Cara (from Flashdance) "What a Feeling"
Importance of Nature - by John Denver "Rocky Mountain High"

Hope that helps :)

For the importance of nature, you might be to use "I Can See Clearly Now." Lyrics here:

It's more of a metaphor where nature is reflecting his mood, though.

"If I Had a Hammer" seems like it could work with self-reliance or confidence. Lyrics here:

Nonconformity, at least with female gender roles, is the theme of "Hunter," by Dido. Lyrics here:

Those are just some ideas. It seems like feminist song writers, like Tori Amos or Alanis Morrisette, might have some good stuff, as well as alternative groups like Radiohead. Also check out protest music from the 60s and 70s.
