Go to your school counselor. They will help you by talking with your parents about getting you some help and they can also direct you as to what your next step is. No matter what...if you believe you are depressed then you should seek help. Do not let it get to the point of suicidal thoughts and actions. If that happens then call someone. Don't be afraid to save yourself. Good Luck.

Depression is a mental disorder from chemical imbalences of the brain (unless your a scientologis). It's not like that one day you feel bad "oh I'm depressed". It's a constant feeling, every second of every day. Be more speciffic in your symptoms. I used to think I was depressed. I hit a rut in my life, and we all do. But their is a distinct difference. When I hit that hard time in my life, i still had good days in the midst of my bad ones. Check your risks, and then come to your mom and be dead serious. If that doesn't work, school counsler, they are always their to listen. Also, I posted a link. Please check and see if you display any of the symptoms.

Her reaction may be out of fear or uncertainty. If your feelings are preventing you from functioning normally, then you need to address it with someone whether that be another relative or maybe a guidance counselor at school. That's what I did because I was too chicken to talk to my parents about it. But good for you for having the guts to talk to your mom.

Talk to your school counselor now - all schools also have school psychologists who can help you. She may not want to believe you are depressed, but that doesn't make it so - don't give up, keep asking for help until you get some.

Tell another adult that you trust, a teacher, an aunt or uncle, a neighbor, whoever. They can help you convince your mom that you need to get professional help.

It is not that she doesn't care, but she just doesn't want to believe that her child could be suffering from it. Explain to her that you really think it is a serious problem, and that you are concerned. She'll listen.

You tell the school nurse or counselor--they'll handle mom. You could also tell another adult relative who you trust.
