I have a two and half year old who goes to bed around 7pm and gets up around 9:30-10am.....my soon to be husband works second shift so he doesn't get home till midnight........so we sleep late in the morning....my doctor doesn't think it is bad as long as she is active during the day. I have put some crib toys with her at night so when she wakes up in the morning she has something to play with. Do you think this is bad for her and do you think she gets to much sleep?
Please NO smart a** comments from people who don't have kids, all I want is other parents comments and opinions.....THANKS

As long as she is active during the day, I really do not see a problem. My daughter used to go to sleep around 6 or 6:30 pm and not wake up until 8:30 or 9 am in the morning. She is/was a very active child and WOULD NOT nap. This might just be what your daughter is needing right now. As long as it works for her and your family, that is all that matters. If it were a problem, i am pretty sure your doctor would say something.
Just remember to take cues of change from your daughter, because they are infamous for getting us used to a routine and then deciding they are ready for a new one.

My twins go to bed at 7:30 p and wake up about 10 sometimes 11 am and take 2 naps. They are very active and healthy.
I also keeps crib toys in the bed so when they wake there is something to do and they don 't immediately cry. I think she is fine. Don't worry so much. (I know it is easy for someone else to say).

I don't think at this age they are capable of getting any more of anything than they need. Is she taking naps? Doesn't sound like she has time for them. If she's getting all her sleep at once, then the amount is not above average. If she is also taking a nap in the middle of the day, then not having any trouble going to sleep at 7, then I would be concerned. The concern, however, would not be that she IS getting too much, but that she seems to NEED too much. Good luck.

There is such a thing as too much sleep. It sounds to me that she'd gotten into the routine of staying quietly in bed because she knows her parents are sleeping late day after day. From what you're saying she's only awake 9 hours a day, that's not much time to get three healthy meals, plus snacks, plus get plenty of active playtime and develop her brain.
At her age she should be sleeping 11 hours at night and a 1-2 hour nap.

I don't think so. I believe they still need around 13-14 hours of sleep at that age. Does she nap too? As long as she is healthy and active and it isn't taking away from her it seems fine.
My 2-1/2 year old doesn't seem to get enough according to sleep charts but she refuses to nap. Every child is different and needs different amounts of sleep. My son on the other hand who is 4 needs just as much sleep or more then my 2-1/2 year old!!

I think she is fine. Kids that age need 12-15 hours of sleep a day. Does she nap at all during the day? My son who is 4 now used to go to bed at about 9:30pm(I worked until 9 and he wanted to see me) and slept until late morning. If it works don't change it. Kids are all about routine you don't wanna shake up a hornets nest so to speak!

If you are comfortable with it and your Doctor is also. I'm sure its fine. Some babies are real good sleepers. Does she wake up and then play in her crib till 930? I think that is a lot of sleep, but I don't see how you could call it bad for her. I'd call it lucky!

Lucky you! I would keep your routine up. It's working for you, it's working for her, and it's not hurting a thing. As long as (like your doc said) she is active during the day, might as well keep it up.
