Well I think a better question would be,"What am I trying to get out of this sermon?" If you are looking to be entertained then I say it is a heart issue. I used to think that sermons were boring too, until someone pointed out that the reason that we gather together and worship and learn about God is not all about us. If you are looking for feelings that come from someone talking about God then it may be a clue that your heart is searching for the wrong reaction to the words that are coming out of the pulpit. Jesus didn't come to entertain He came "to seek and to save that which was lost." It may be also that you are bored because you have outgrown your churches teaching. If that is the case and you have ceased learning and growing then maybe you should be looking for a more doctrinally deep church. Good luck with your search! Also sometimes note taking can help keep you awake and engaged with what the pastor is saying and maybe you'll find out he's not so boring after all.

ok in common words 2 or 3 human beings pronounced some thing about going to sleep and really a style of, i'm guessing through his answer does no longer attend church. Our seats are cushioned and there are not any topics with everyone falling asleep for the time of a sermon. If this does no longer help then you i do not comprehend what different answer may.

Maybe the preacher isnt getting his messages from God, but instead he is working on them all week long, like a research paper for school. Who wants to hear something that a man has written? Not me..Our church is never dull or boring...You can feel the Holy Spirit moving all the time..and if God doesnt send the preacher a message or he isnt burdened to preach, then he simply says God hasnt laid anything on his heart and we dont have preaching...We sing, testify, and praise the Lord..When he does have a message, then it is meant for someone there, usually more than one person...Maybe you just need a new church, one that believes in praising the Lord!

It is simple.
Most pastors are not preachers. There is a big difference.
Many years ago seminaries believed that the preachers were not trained enough to be pastors (shepherds). To correct this they out a lot of emphasis on counseling, church business, finance, music and so on. There are indeed few good preachers in this world today. I believe the main function of a church leader is to preach, if he can not preach-the church will not grow. We have way too much fellowship, community service, hurricane relief, and overseas missions in our churches today-we need preachers. But those preachers need to know the Word of God. I guess I have to agree with you.

The whole sermon is about WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM US, and not about WHAT WE CAN EXPECT !
Suppose it is a gathering to announce the lucky winner of some huge amount of lottery, lucky dip or so, and we have no stake in it, but even the thinnest chance of winning would yield a fortune... The whole audience would 'hold their breath' to clearly listen to the winner's name... what kind of a 'charged' atmosphere would be there !
The sermons ought to be so inspiring or even better. But it takes a lot of skill to convince the listeners, that they could 'expect' an EVERLASTING reward, prize, by participating in this "LUCKY DIP, DEEP !"

As they say, "Your system is perfectly designed to give you the results you're getting."
#1 reason they avoid church because of these boring fake messenger of God.
These Fake servant's sermons are boring and don't relate to daily living and many churches seem more interested in your wallet that in you.

If you think that the sermons is boring then you need to look inside your heart, and look at your relationship with Christ. If you have a strong and deep relationship with Christ, then you will not find the sermons boring.
I actively take notes when my pastor preaches, and I follow along in my bible.

Sometimes depend in who is preaching, but the truth is that if you dont feel or meant to educate to listen someone you always will be bored, if you focus on something that is your interest you will pay atention but sermon is not your interest that is why you get bored. but the reality is that in each sermon is always something good to learn
