She may have experienced rejection from her parents, or perceived rejection. Some sort of more serious abuse (emotional, physical, sexual) may have taken place, by her parents, siblings, or someone else. Be there as a friend for her, but realize that she may need serious help. Often, women abuse themselves and blame THEMSELVES when they are mistreated, completely opposite to the way men react to such abuse or mistreatment.
You can't help her---only SHE can help herself, by getting counselling, therapy, etc.

I had a simliar situation...It probably is in the past; thats what usually happens. its great that you guys click so well and that you really see this girl as special. but honestly if you use the whole "if you loved me, you wouldnt do this" quote all your gonna get is dissapointment and tears. The best thing you can do for her (because you do love her) is to get her help. Convince her to see a councelor or a psychistrist. Tell her that its the best thing for the both of you guys. And maybe even go to the visits with her. Be supportive but not her whole support system. Its an emotional roller coaster and you have your own life to live and yourself to take care of too. Getting her help is the best thing you can do for her and you being there for her is the best thing you can do for her. good luck to the both of you guys.

I'm a nurse. She is depressed about something and cuts herself to relieve the hurtful feelings she feels. I would get her to talk about how she feels, anything would do. Also ask her to write down her feelings like a journal. I would then ask her to see a professional if this don't work. Take care and have her to watch this and know she is so loved by those around her, like you. www.mayyoubeblessedmovie.com

I hope that she is old enough to go see a doctor, because she needs one. She needs to be in therapy to stop this self destructive path, and find out what caused it in the first place.

It's great that you two communicate so well, so I hope that you can get her to take care of herself. Stand by her, help her to help herself.
