A few weeks ago , i woke up and was very sick. i stayed home from school but didnt get to much better and went to the doctor the next day. My doctor told me i had Mono , he had tested me for strep , but it came out negative , and he said that what was wrong with me could either be Mono , Lukiemia , or Hiv. Im not sexual active so i know it wasent HIV , and he said if i felt sicker after taking my medicine to go back to him to take blood tests , my medicine ended about two weeks ago and im not feeling any better. Im extremeley tired and can never seem to wake up anymore. ive been extremley ache , and sore. ive had alot of headaches and some on and of fevers , and some other symptoms , i had looked up the symptoms of lukiemia and most of mine are very simular , i dont know if i should go back to the doctor and get it checked out , im only 16. does anyone have an experience in this area or have the disease or know someone that has it?

Lukemia is a cancer and if you think you may have symptoms associated with it then contact St Judes Childrens Hospital in Memphis, TN. I have a granddaughter who was diagnosed with this at 3 but in her case there were physical signs in swelling of her neck where the tumor developed. I'ts typically a very fast acting disease and usually you will have some indication of a tumor with swelling or extreme tenderness wherever the tumor is located. You need a better doctor if you honestly think you may have this.

I think it was terrible for you doctor to tell you all the things it could be without doing blood tests first! It sounds like they are trying to scare you! And if he/she doesn't know what the problem is, how could he/she prescribe you medicine????
Without further information about your symptoms and tests done/results, all I can say is tiredness (fatigue), fever, and achiness are symptoms of a LOT of different conditions - not all as bad as the ones you've listed, although they are possibilities. You can look up online the medicine you were prescribed and see what it was for/what it should do. It may very well have been for mono, and if this is what you have, you should know that the fatigue can last from 4-6 weeks. If you want more info on mono, look it up in the medical encyclopedia on http://medlineplus.gov/
I would definitely go for blood tests. These should include tests for your blood count and thyroid profile. After bloodwork, your doctor should know more, and can refer you to a specialist if necessary.
In the meantime, try not to worry too much - and don't expect the worst diagnosis possible!

yes,me.i have been in remission from leukemia for 6 years.their are many types of leukemia.i had hcl[hairy cell]i first started out with night time fevers and terrible cold sores, not just on my lip,but all over my lips,i also bleed a lot.my gums and ears bleed,i got a cold and couldn't get rid of it,i coughed all the time too.also i was very low in oxygen.i had a bone marrow scan, and a pet scan.that's how the Dr's.found out what i had.i had my spleen removed, followed by chemo.you really need to go to a specialist and have some test.to this day i am still tired, and my gums are very bad,and i stay low in oxygen also.good luck to you,i hope its not leukemia, because that takes so much out of a person.god bless ya.

Go Back to the doctor ASAP & get blood tests to check your white blood and red blood cell levels this is the only way you can be sure to rule out anything. I was diagnosed with leukeamia at 12 years old, My only sympotms at that time was, low immune system ( i picked up every bug going around). The only thing anyone could tell you for sure is too go back to the doctor, the sympotms you've described can be a million different things.

Sounds like Mono..but your doc is the one to confirm this., Try to stay away from medical books or computer medical sites..unless you know definitely what you have and just want to research all that can be found. One symptom can be linked to hundreds of different diseases. Just wait for a diagnosis..but you must go for a follow up or you'll never know..

You got some pretty good advice in these answers. My only addition would be to see a hematologist. They specialize in diseases of the blood and blood making organs. It sounds like you have lost confidence in your doctor, and maybe rightfully so. Don't jump the gun here and think leukemia first...although he was the one to mention it (poor form). Call your local medical board and ask for names of hematologists. They will tell you the truth and only when they have run the appropriate blood panels to diagnose this. Good luck!

Your doctor is a Moran. You could have the flu. There are so many symptoms alike for different illnesses. Go and get your blood test done by a different doctor.
