How come when it comes to Science religious people can trust everything science has to offer...DNA testing for families, cancer research, Aids research, Vaccines, Meteorology, Cures for disease that Science has developed over the last hundred years, Flight,Gravity, the earth revolving around the sun, The moon cycles, Computers, Radar, Underwater Research, water purification, the list goes on and on...yet when Science says evolution is fact you act like Science is lying to you and they are just making it up to prove you wrong. I mean don't you realize that this has happend before? ex.Research Galileo, I am not trying to be mean but how come when it really comes down to it I can 100 % prove evolution. Yet you guys read one Biased Evangelical website written by a pastor saying evolution is wrong and you take it as Gospel? Also for people who believe in God and evolution..why don't you talk some sense into your fellow believer?
If it wasn't for Science mankind would have died out long ago.

One more thing to the people who reference people like Newton and Kepler...their field of Science wasn't evolution was it?

Earl D thank you so much for proving me right!

That's a good question, and you stated it more strongly than I have seen before. But I doubt it will change any minds. Earl D might be an extreme example. But even xnpilot111 shows the kind of wacky attitude that people have towards science. Quantum physics is completely accepted by all serious physicists, and has been for quite some time. Heck, Nobel prizes for work in Quantum Mechanics were given out in the 30s!
Anyway, many people want to discredit science for their own reasons. Perhaps is it their religious beliefs, or perhaps they just hope that science is wrong so that we might someday discover that there really are ways to do "magic". It's too bad, because the things we are now able to do with science would seem like magic to people living just a few hundred years ago.

first off a bunch of the things you listed science did not develop they discovered it - gravity, the sun....
second since you said it yourself science has become a major factor in our lives in only the last 100 years or so - what was keeping mankind going all those years before we became so technologically advanced - i think if we had to we could survive fine without all those advances, it would be a very different type of lifestyle but we would make it
yup Galileo was right but what if we made a list of all the scientists who had a theory and were pr oven wrong years later - that list would go on for days
as far as 100% proof of evolution that is one person taking a set of data and making an argument another scientist can look at the same data and make another argument - this happens everyday even about simple things, I know b/c this is my job - 4 high level MD Phds look at the same data and come up with opposite ideas on how a system works and what the next step should be and we are not talking about something as complicated as evolution - there is no way you can prove a theory that cannot be replicated with 100% certainty sorry its just not possible

Correction: Evolution is a theory, which by definition means that it has not been proven. It may be true, but how can we prove it with empirical fact? We can verify the age of fossils by carbon dating, but we cannot observe the mutations of genes over millions of years. Maybe that is why the mystery of life belongs to God. He is the only one who could observe evolution, since time is of no consequence to Him.
Believing in evolution requires the same amount of FAITH it takes to believe God created the earth. I also do not believe religion and science are mutually exclusive. No where does it say HOW God created the earth, nor does it say what 7 days mean to God. We already know that His time is not the same as ours.
I think people like to stir up controversy between science and religion to attract radical believers and non-believers to their respective circles.
So, in conclusion, Christians don't believe in evolution because they take the Bible at its literal word.

Truth from my world.
I'm a Christian and I have never heard such a nutty debate until coming to Yahoo R/S. Most Christians that I know believe that God created. That does not mean evolution is just tossed out the window. The Bible is not a science book. Maybe I come from a less fundamental/evangelical group of believers...?

Very good! Hope to see some thoughtful answers from the devout who frequent this site.
As far expecting those who believe in both God and evolution to be able to 'talk sense' into those with fundamentalist attitudes--I'm betting that as far as those fundamentalists are concerned, belief in evolution is sacrilegious, and calls into question the purity of their faith.

Listen dude- many scientist don't believe or trust everything science has to offer.
You can not prove evolution-you are dreaming. There is not a single fact behind it-only speculation. If there were facts proving evolution-the debate would be over. There are just too many scientist who can not accept this theory. There is no proof.
If you could prove evolution-you would be the wealthiest man on earth.

That's a good point you make. I believe in God.....but I don't think I'm on good terms with the other church-goers (since I don't go to church and disagree with pretty much every thing they say.) I'll give it a try, but if everyone else has been so unsuccessful, I doubt I'll do much better.

First not all religions buy into all science. The Amish want nothing to do with it. Christian Scientists try not to use doctors.
And Evolution the way YOU think of it is not a fact OR you should be proud of YOUR APE HERITAGE and maybe put a picture of one up. I mean YOU ARE ADMITTING YOU ARE A LOWER ANIMAL.
YOu HAVE to be lower, APES don't make war.
I don't view my Grandaddy as an Ape. I beleive I came from far better stock than that.
Oh how come Apes stopped making humans?
Where did all the Mass of the Universe come from?
How come Science can't create life out of inorganic chemicals but it happens randomly in nature. Maybe science isn't as good as it thinks it is...

You need to start reading about Quantum Physics. Turns out that physicists have lost touch with reality. and QM has turned science on it's head.
Truth is like light. Never phased by darkness... physical, metaphysical, or mental.
And God loves you, too.

Most real science confirms the Bible. See here: http://everystudent.com/forum/science.ht...
More resources: Creation Resource Foundation: www.creationresource.org
Great scientists like Johannes KEPLER saw God's magnificance and constantly gave praise to God Almighty for his wonderful laws built into nature. He was a creationist.
So was Isaac NEWTON.......and he wrote 1 million words about his LITERAL belief in the Scripture. He was a creationist.
" I have a fundamental belief in the Word of God....I study the Bible daily". - Isaac Newton
The electromagnetic equations of James Clerk Maxwell attest to the Magnificant mathematical inginuity of the Creator.
He was a Creationist.
Its only the ignorant who can't figure it out.
