Jacob aka Israel had 12 sons, and Levi was one of them, I think this book was written by or written for his tribe, hence Levi--Leviticus. Hope this helps. Look in your Bible, some of them have a part in the back that tells what each book is about or what its named for, that is a KJV one will.

The Hebrew names of the books all come from the fist verse of each book, the Greek names are kinda silly..

It's referring to the tribe of Levi. The priestly tribe. Thus, the priestly people sanctioned by Almighty God.
