How many people did he kill?
How many wars did he start in comparison with Jehovah?
Is he evil just because he stood up for 'Angel rights' lol!?

mx3baby :Ok, let's me use your way of arguing.

1. See all the war in the wold?

2. See all the prejudice in the world?

3. See all the ignorance, intolerance, stupidity and lack of 'knowledge' in the world?

That's Jehovah's doing...

His more evil than Satan. Face it Satan is just scapegoat figure for Christian culture. Someone to blame for the things your deity cannot explain. Jehovah is more deceiving, he decieves thousands into enslavement and war.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

That would depend on what type of christian you are. Catholics have a different version of santan than Baptists and so on.
He is evil because of what he does. He tries to prevent others from believing in God so that they will come to him. He is power hungry and wants to destroy those who may or do believe in God.
He is only a part of Christ, in sense that he was once and angel, who did not sucessfully fill is rightful duty of obeying God's Word and was cast out of heaven

Excellent question. I hope someone answers. I can't find anything except that he "tempts" people, but I didn't search the new testament.

Lame question, but I will humor you.

Satan is evil because

1) He chose to be
2) God says he is

And 3) Do you see all this craziness in the world? It's Satan's doing.

I don't believe he is, but many do. I believe he is a part of God. That he never 'fell'. Many do not believe t his way because of the traditions of the Church they belong to or grew up in.
