Heres a site that has many different crafts and activities for preschoolers, which I've used and thought it was a great thing!
Also here are some for the Fingerplays.

You can have them bring a toy snake and act as though they were snake charmers. (Bring music)

Or you could do a balloon popping act for the parents.

First, blow up some balloons (About 5 to 10)
Then, make a big target (about the size of an average wall) out of wood or strong box paper material. Tape the balloons near the edges of the target.
Then, using the same material, cut out knives and decorate them with tin foil.

Have one kid stand in the middle of the target and the balloons around him. Have a teacher stand behind the target holding a pin. Have another student stand a few feet in front of the target and have him throw the fake knives at the balloons. When the knives hit the balloons, the teacher behind pops them with the pin (careful not to be seen by the audience).

this activity takes some practice, but it's very fun to do.

One possible activity would be to get gauzy juggling scarves and let the kids throw them in the air and catch them. A book that would be terrific to read during circle time would be, "The Fabulous Flying Fandinis", by Ingrid Slyder. It's all about a boy who learns to be daring and try something new through visiting the circus family next door. For more ideas on activities to try with kids, you might try contacting the Boulder Circus Center at

They might be able to direct you to resources for young children.
Good luck.

For a craft, Have them make a clown face with paper and markers or crayons, then use yarn to glue on for the hair, very textile!
Activity, Use ping pong balls and place buckets at various distances, let each child throw 3 or 5 balls at a time seeing who can get the furthest distance, like on Bozo the Clown.

Balloon animals are actually pretty easy to make.
