In relation to a prior question asked by someone esle where smoking is considered a sin.

Has anyone who believes this to be true actually ever smoked before or are they speculating? You really don't feel any different before, during or after than any other time.

Nicotine does have a slight soothing effect. It certainly doesn't have the effect of say, 16 beers.

i assume you are referring to tobacco

smoking tobacco does alter the consciousness, there has been many times i have observed this obvious fact in my life

however, most of the time it is the force of habit to light up another one

when it is most evident is when i have not used tobacco since early evening and then mid morning comes around and i step out doors and take a few puffs and there is a definite alteration

things change

thoughts get re arranged

different ideas come forth

yes, tobacco is mind altering: have you ever taken a nose hit on a Camel Non Filter?

Hows about snorting some powder snuff?

Mind altering? Not like Gangi. Like Native American Tobacco.

Smokem peace pipe

take a deep hit of a pipe full of righteous tobacco and hold it and allow yourself to experience the spiritual manifestation of Native American Tobacco

Alter your mood

Light up another
and another
and another
and another

how long can you go without smoking? smoking tobacco?

then when you do smoke: be aware!
notice the change
notice the alteration in the collective unconsciousness

I'm not exactly sure what your asking....but I guess if those people consider smoking cigarettes a sin, they would also consider any number of other drugs a sin. I don't believe hitting an opium pipe is going to send you to hell any faster than a cigarette. And to be perfectly honest, I don't think it's that big of a deal in God's eyes.

Well it alters the brains chemical patterns so that it becomes addictively dependant upon the nicotine. Sure it doesn't change what you think/percieve.. Yet you do continually think about how you've got through another pack and ~need~ more. The only 'high' you get is the brains rush of relief as the nicotine desire is satisfied. That dependancy could surely be deemed unholy.. (I don't think God likes self-harm/suicide very much [the amount of time it takes you to kill yourself wouldn't really matter to God...) Think of how the money you spend on that unhealthy, self-harming chemical mix could be used to help charities.

I'd say it's a "lung-altering" drug. It's gross.

Same as caffeine -- it affects your mind-state. Its not LSD or anything.

(I chewed tobacco for a year -- never a big smoker though)
