Well, I don't understand the question, because renewable resources are already widely used. Many cities recycle, power companies using clean technologies have popped up, etc etc. Heck, in the Mediterranean, they have been using solar power for the water boilers for decades. I think there will be a big move toward a greater use of renewable resources in the next couple of years in some western countries. Here in Canada, I have seen a dramatic change in peoples' perceptions about their role in climate change just in the last 6 months.

I hope very soon, but untill a majority of people realize that using petrol is a problem we won't get very far.
