Whats it matter? the important word in that question is "ex". Just because you date a boy and it doesn't work out, doesn't mean that you own him for life. LET HIM GO.

Well, you can always ask her...make her feel like you don't care if she does like him or not. If she says she does don't make a big deal about it in front of her.

if she seems to talk about him at times. if she seems to be looking at him even for a few seconds (so you dont get suspicious) or if she hangs out talks to him sometimes. thats the easy stuff.
