If youare mailing from USA then a regular stamp will not suffice. It cost $1.20 for a regular letter mail

The letter will be delivered but the recipient will have to pay the difference in postage. The letter will also travel by the slowest mail route rather than by air-mail. It is easy enough to check with your local post office what stamps you should put on the letter.

If you are in the USA it is easy to check on the Internet.

Go to http://www.usps.com/tools/calculatepostage/ and use the rate calculator to find out the airmail cost. You will need to know the letter weight to do this though. This tool is useful for working out postage to any country for anything from letters to large packages.

For a general idea of postage, check out http://pe.usps.gov/text/Imm/immicl/immiclab_012.html where you can also find out what import restrictions are if you ever wish to send a package.

Letter post starts at $.84 for 1oz.

If your not in the USA, maybe your countries postal system has a web site like the USPS does (I know Australia does, I've also visited that site too)

I hope that helps

I live in Aust & post to the UK, I have to put an international postage stamp on letters costing approx $1.10 Au, more than within Aust. $0.55 Au. Can't you just email him, instead of using 'snail mail.'?
