I have a 20 yr/old male cousin who I am very close to and I would like for him to be in my wedding. I don't have another bridesmaid that he could walk with.

Does anyone know of any other "role" he could have?

Thanks =D

I have a maid of honor, bridesmaid, best man, and usher. He would be the 5th and odd man out. I would like to have an even number on either side. The candle idea is good. Thanks everyone.

he could many different tasks and play a big role in your wedding by either being the following..
-usher
-wedding planner
-do a reading
-he could get his licence and marry you and your husband
-bring the candles and hand you the light
-sing

You haven't said if he is the only one.....if he is, why not get a bridesmaid from the grooms side of the family. If you already have a suitable number in the bridal party then .....he can do a reading, sing, play a song, give a toast, read a poem, hand out flowers/favors if that is being done, pass out the rice/flower pedals, chauffeur a rental car for you or your parents or the bridal party....he could just be honored by being included at the family head table, give him a card or small gift (like a photo of the two of you with a note) telling him how important he is....just write him a note in the invitation and let him enjoy the day.....just being there may be enough.... you could pay for his hotel room that night, or be sure his fav drink is available on the bar..... good luck

He could still be a groomsman. You don't have to have equal numbers of bridesmaids and groomsmen. For your ceremony, you can have all your groomsmen enter with your groom seperately and then have your bridesmaids enter single file separately during the processional. Or you could have your first bridesmaid or maid of honor be escorted by two groomsmen during the processional. Then during your recessional your last bridesmaid can be escorted by two groomsmen.

But if you prefer having an even number of honor attendants, he can seat your mother or grandmother, be an usher who lights your ceremony candles (if you have any) or pull down your aisle runner right before you and your flower girl walk down the aisle. I wouldn't recommend a reading though due to his age unless you think he would feel comfortable with doing that.

He could hand out the programs at the door, be an usher, do a reading, or be the gift attendant. I'm not really sure of what else he could do, but there must be something. Good luck!

Have him escort your mother down and seat her and then he can stand with the other ushers. when you leave the church both your father and him can escort her out (make him the last to leave the church from the wedding lineup. this is nice and saves some "made up" position in the wedding for him to feel awkward about.

He could be an usher, and escort the guest to their seats during the ceremony. Or, he could also do an reading or something doing the ceremony.

It is not necessary to have an even number of attendants. Certainly have him in the wedding party if you and he would like to be!
