Helen Keler was an exteremely wise, well read woman. This quote is basically stating the same idea as "many hands make light work". If people work together towards a common goal, it will be much more effective than several people working alone. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.

Helen Keller did accomplish a lot in her lifetime (and most people don't know that as an adult, she was quite radical in her thinking. She supported the Russian Revolution, for example). However, she realized that without a lot of help, she would have gotten nowhere. Her blindness and deafness left her helpless. She also came to realize that had she been born into a poor family, which she wasn't, she would have most likely ended up in an asylum, treated as if she were mentally defective, because nobody would have brought a teacher like Anne Sullivan to her. She's making the point that through teamwork and cooperation, more can be accomplished than by one individual working alone. I think in most cases, this is true.
