A scientist adds a water-soluble inhibitor of photosynthesis to the roots of a plant. However photosynthesis is not affected by addition of the inhibitor in this manner. Why?

Photosynthesis occurs in the leaves of the plant, nto the root (although sometimes in the stems too), and the inhibitor may not be able to travel up the xylem or may not be able to cross hte plasma membrane
