Did you see a Christmas Story? Classic!
I think it is every childs right of passage to have their first BB gun, there first 22 rifle, first shotgun etc etc
Proper training, confience and respect building and it is a great thing. The key is to be there and spend time with the kids. Too often anymore it seems parents want to give there kid the xbox or playstation and cut them loose. "hey at least I know where my kid is" yea shooting people, blowing up everything blah blah blah
and that is so much more just than unleashing your child with what? a GUN? under proper supervision with proper training. guns never hurt or killed people, people kill people. Hunt with your kids dont hunt for them.
Goodluck and Godspeed

With supervision. Only let your children use the BB gun with an adult present. Don't forget that a BB gun can inflict damage to property and people. Children should never be allowed to forget this and always insist that the gun be aimed only at a suitable target. A BB gun is a great training tool for the proper and safe handling of firearms. If they're old enough, a firearm safety course should be required. And don't forget, in most states, you're the one legally responsible for their actions with the BB gun. Good luck.

only you can answer that, ask yourself have you taken the time to fully explain the do's and donts and that guns are not toys and should not be treated as such, is your child responsible?
they would definetly need to be supervised and trained to carry and shoot it properly, visit your local wildlife and fisheries agency they all teach great hunter safety coures on firearms. My son is 10 years old and he has 4 guns that are all locked away in my safe he has a deer rifle a shotgun a 22 cal and a bb gun and he knows never to mess with them when im not around , even if he wanted to he dont have a key to the safe. good luck to ya and i hope it works out for ya cause hunting is one of the safest and most enjoyable sports in the world when done by properly trained individuals.

Bound's hubby here:

Yes, it is safe, however, you need to supervise your child's use of the BB gun, you need to teach them safe gun handling technique plus you need to regulate their access to the BB gun. This presupposes that you made the decision that your child has demonstrated the maturity and the responsibility to handle a gun safely. Remember, a BB gun is not a toy. In concept it is much like a cartridge firing gun. You will have to demonstrate the same or greater levels of responsibility and maturity when teaching and exposing your child to a BB gun.

Good luck.

It depends on thier ages first off second I think that a bb gun would be safe as long as the parents took the time to make it safe by talking about the safty issue tell them when they can use it and where they can use it..If it parent is not willing then no it wis not safe.

every kid should get a bb gun to start with if you trust your kid to do the right then yes but if you ever catch him pointing it at someone. then take it away and tell him not to do that etc etc. then after he gets it back if you catch him doing it again take it and go ballistic and get online and find pics of gun accidents to show him to show him how bad it can be... granted a bb gun wont blow off someones head but you have to start teaching them gun ethics early

A kid with a gun is only as safe as his mentor. If you treat the gun like a nuclear terrorist device, he will too, and what little kid wouldn't want one of those? Teach him to use it, so a gun isn't anything special. It is a useful skill and very fun.

It's safe if the child isn't too young and the correct supervision is there. They can be good learning tools to teach gun safety.

Yes, I played with mine all the time when I was a kid. I eventually wore it out. You need to be responsible though and teach them gun safety before you let them use it by themselves.
