It wasn't and that is hard for us to understand because in this
experience things begin and end and that is what we know. In
the realm of the spiritual things don't begin and don't end they
just are without measures of any kind. We are all part of that spiritual realm but we are on temporary reality duty for some reason, and when this experience ends we go home and then it will all make sense.

From a Christian perspective:

God is the Creator... everything else is a creation.

If God had to be created, He would not be God at all, but merely a creation. That which created Him would be God instead.

This, I believe, is one reason that God refers to Himself as "I Am" in certain Scriptures. He always was, and always will be, dependent on no creation for His existence.

It is possible for God to have always existed because He exists beyond the confines of this world.

God bless.

This is asked alot so let me explain. I believe God created our "space-time" universe. Since God is not subject to his creation, God didn't require a "beginning" unlike his creation (God exists outside of time), God is also infinite (outside of space). The universe can't be started w/out the time dimension, therefore, I believe that God was the first "cause". God exists in a "circular" reality, no beginning or end.

Even if we think that someone else created God, this still implies the existence of an ultimate cause So actually no one objects to the idea of some ultimate cause. Admitting an ultimate cause, therefore, we must ask this basic question of creation: was that original cause conscious or inert?

Jesus said BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS I AM. That was a very bold statement by Jesus. The bible assumes that God was without beginning or end. One more statement in scripture I can give is this in the book of Genesis
LET US GO DOWN AND MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE. Mind, body, and spirit.

Mind = the Father
body = Jesus
spirit = Holy Spirit

There are many that come to this section that try to destroy faith, but Jesus gives them a warning;

And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it were better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

I love the response of the Christians on this one!!!!

"He just exists, he was always there"...

Funny that....when Scientists or Atheist are asked where did the Universe come from, and they give the same response it's always scoffed at as ridiculous by the Christians...

Very amusing..

"Lökásennä" : The comment she makes is correct.

A being as sophisticated as God would have to be infinitely complex (being the creator of the universe an all that) and would have had to develop because any complex system cannot just pop into existence..it needs to evolve. This doesnt really fit with religious beliefs.

EDIT: "ultimate_..."
Well I dont think theres any doubt that your post answered the question....

Since God is beyond time, He is eternal and has neither beginning nor end. God is the Causeless Cause, the Source of all things.

Man creates Gods all the time to gloss over things they don't know and are too lazy to find out.. It's easy to say "God did it" instead of investigating..

Whether one believes in God or not, it is arrogant and fruitless, even foolish to even construct this question or presume to any hope or semblance of an answer. This is one time where we shoudl just take the cards we're dealt and play our hand. In my opinion.

This is the one thing I do know. Human beings are created, are finite minds cannot grasp the idea that God was not created. He is and will forever be forevermore. When you learn to except that than things will get easier. He always was.... that plan that simple. Let it go.
