My fiancee and I are getting married this May at city hall and having a ceremony for our families next year in Orlando (where we'll also take our honeymoon). However, we'd like to go somewhere after the city hall ceremony for a weekend - sort of like a mini-honeymoon. I don't want to spend more than $600. Can anyone think of a place near the Buffalo area that wouldn't be too expensive (not Niagara Falls please - we live too close and have been there too many times). We were thinking about Columbus, OH or Pittsburgh. We were also thinking about NYC, which is only a six-hour drive, but the hotels are too expensive. Any ideas?

I live in the midwest and both columbus and cincinatti ohio are a lot of fun for the weekend! the drive isn't so bad, and you could get an average hotel/motel and then they have a lot of attractions to go see!

have fun and good luck on your marriage!

Totonto or Montreal or Quebec City can be vey nice

How about a trip to the mountains in upstate NY. Lake Placid is very nice. Lake George is nice too and not quite as far.

Really depends on what you like to do:

Cities are all the same everywhere.

Boston is nice and a little cheaper than NY if you are set on a city.

Washington DC is also realy nice.

Good luck

So Niagara Falls is out...but what about Toronto??

If you are going to Columbus area I have heard that Hocking Hills is a beautiful place to stay. Of pretty close to Columbus is Landoll's Mohican Castle. That is one of the places I had wanted to go for my honeymoon...its beautiful!! Here is a website incase you want to check it out!

Harbor Springs, Michigan is a beautiful town with a magnificent view of Lake michigan and the sunsets which occur there. Very close to Harbor Springs is Petoskey which offers that same fantastic view with a more city-like atmosphere.

Go to hotels.com or priceline.com and look for some last minute deals. You'll probably have to wait to book a hotel within a day or on the very day.

Go on Priceline.com and find a cheap hotel in NYC. It can be done. Good luck and congratulations.
