what little education there is in mexico is often times clouded by the "educators" belief that the Continent of north America belongs to the "mexicans". It is this mis-conception that leads to the false sense of righteousness they have when they break American law. There is a system in place in mexico where by the government actually condones illegal entry to the U.S. and provides special information on how to survive the journey. These pamphlets glorify those who are successful in their illegal venture and make the illegal trespasser feel as though some great accomplishment was just undertaken.

It's a long story and it goes back to when Mexico owned most of Texas, all of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada and California. They did not have very many people in these areas so they encouraged Americans to migrate into these territories. Unfortunately some of these Americans had very little loyalty to Mexican government, in Texas they even revolted and created the Republic of Texas. (source of the "battle" known as the Alamo) Although the US did not implicit support the rebellion it was clear they were happy about it, they offered to buy the this territory (the future southwestern United States) from the Mexicans but they refused. Soon after a group of US soldiers were attacked by Mexican forces. The US government decided that this was an attack on US solders in US territory. Whether or not they were actually in US territory remains a mystery, but there were some like Congressmen Abraham Lincoln (yes, that Lincoln) who expressed doubts. In any event Congress declares war, handles the Mexican forces very well, and ultimately signs two treaties the Gadsden Purchase and the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which the Mexicans sell the southwest to America for 25 million dollars.

I don't think that they are full of themselves, but I do agree with others on here in saying that they have broken the law by coming here without going through the proper procedures. If they can't follow our laws, they shouldn't expect to benefit from them.
However, I can understand their motivation: the Mexican economy is doing very poorly, and they just want a better life for themselves and their families. If I had to break the law to survive, I would do it; but then again, I wouldn't be complaining about my rights and benefits after doing it.

I guess I am confused at this question. I am married to a LEGAL mexican, however I do know MANY MANY illegals, and I cannot say that one of them is full of themselves, or lazy, or draining our economy. Each of them that I know has AT LEAST ONE, but usually two jobs and tends to themselves and stays out of trouble. The only government aid that these people can collect is for their LEGAL born children. Take a walk down to your local ghetto and I am sure that there is a higher percentage of unworking, government aid collecting ADULTS there, and they are LEGAL.

What exactly is it that makes you think they are full of themselves? In what way do they display that sort of behaviour, in your opinion? Under what circumstances can that behaviour be observed?

Your question is inflammatory, and assumes that a given population behaves a certain way, but provides no proof of that, or any definition of what "full of themselves" means to you.

because they are greedy. lazy, and want a free handout! the only jobs they get are to become drug dealers in this nation! however, there are alot of good, hard working mexicans also! in fact, they are the ones who do the backbreaking work in this nation like working in sewers and so forth! where would we get our fruit if the mexicans did not pick in the fields? so that, friend, is a loaded question! i gave two answers!

They aren't full of themselves? Don't say it to ALL of them, that's not true. A lot of them are really nice actually. I've seen them in front of Home Depots. but they are only over here for work..not to bug the hell out of us..unlike some people.

Well if you the first thing you do upon entering the U.S. is to break the law, you must hold yourself in high regard (above the law).
