No one is going to cut yourself. You have to get help.

Hi Milly,
I understand the feeling you have of embarrassment and even shame over cutting because I have felt the same way. We feel embarrassed and guilty because in one sense we know that we shouldn't be cutting ourselves and in another we can't help it and it's a way of reflecting our emotional pain and focusing it on something else.
The question I have is, what is the doctor inspecting you for? is he specifically inspecting you for cutting or self harm? that is what I am finding confusing about your question. As far as your mom is concerned, you can request that she not come in to the exam room with you that way you can feel more at ease talking with your doctor if you chose to do so.
In Hiding the cuts I would use a little foundation blend it evenly so it is not noticeable that you have make-up on what ever part of your body. This may be a scary concept for you, but how would you feel about talking to the doctor alone without your mom present? the choice is yours. I can only speak from personal experience when I tell you, despite the embarrassment and the feelings of guilt it is a feeling of relief when you get it off your chest.
Just note that everyone including "professionals" handel and cope with information they are given differently, meaning some are going to stay calm and handel things appropriately others overreact and get upset and can't handel the issue at hand. I feel you should be made aware of that so your not shocked by anyone's reaction because it most likely will happen at some point in time. You take care and I hope all works out for you next week .
Sincerely,
Alice H.

What do you mean "inspect?" If you're just going for a regular check up, don't worry about it. I don't know where you cut, but he's not going to be looking at most of your body unless you report having some kind of rash or something. If the cuts are on your arm, and a nurse comes over to check your blood pressure or if you're due for any vaccines or anything, just give them the other arm, and they won't think anything off it. I don't know how bad the actual cuts are, but personally I've gone to doctors plenty of times for other things when I know they must have seen the cuts, and they never said anything about it to me or my parents. Once I even had a doctor commented on a Winnie the Pooh band-aid I had over one of my cuts, and since it was right next to a whole bunch of clearly self-inflicted cuts that weren't covered there's no way she didn't figure out what was going on, but she never said anything about it other than that it was a cute band-aid. (BTW, the only reason that she saw my arm at all was that they were putting in an IV and insisted in putting it in my left arm, so it's not something that's likely to happen at a routine check-up).
Of course, really the best thing is to tell the doctor about the cutting, and let him help you. But I totally understand your desire to hide your cuts, having spent some three years doing that myself. It's good that you're planning to talk to your school counselor, and I really hope you'll follow through with that. It really is best if you can talk to someone about it, and get some real help. But I obviously can't force you to get help if you don't want to. Heck, I can't even force myself to do that.

Depends on where they are ...
I use to be a cutter until you get to the point that every cutter dose the point where you go to far ...
See cutters start with small cuts almost like or resembling scratches then you need more and you become addicted to going deeper and seeing more blood ... seeing just how far you can go .... the more the deeper the more intense the release ...
But when you go deep you can also end up getting yourself thrown in a looney bin which for a cutter just makes it worse ....
So think about that not here to preach I no where you are and only you can stop or seek help with that good luck ...
You would half to tell me where the cuts are as to how to hide the m ... and what they look like ... deep ? scratches ?
Like I said alot of times you can say my friends cat got ahold of me ?? I had an accident ?? My friend and I were wrestling and she got me ?? Sex ... depends ...
You can email the details if you like and I can try n help or if you would just like to talk like I said no where you are ....

Look, I realize you said cutters only and I have never cut myself but it breaks my heart to see someone writing this. And you are obviously quite young if you are going to see a school counselor. Please get help- I know it seems like it is helping so much but I know people who have been cutters and getting help is the BEST thing you can do! I pray for you and hope you listen to this advice.

sweetheart, i am a cutter myself and i know how hard it is when people find out you cut and stuff. but dont hide it. seriously sweetie. i am open about it with my friends and because of this i am able to discuss my feelings with them. let the doctor see your cuts. explain to him why you do it. most likely you will be sent to a psychiatrist or someone to help you out. also, they may send you to a psychiatric ward or a stress center just for a few days until you can get back on your feet and are able to withstand not cutting. please let someone know about this! lots of love <3 jenny

don't hide them from the doctor.you need to face up to this problem right away before it becomes more serious.he should recommend a therapist that will help you figure out why you are doing this to yourself.
