Because the Isrealites wanted to eat meat becuase they were so used to it when they were captive in egypt he said "fine if you want to eat the flesh of my beautiful creatures eat the ones that I know will do the least damage" which is why he outlined I believe in exodus 22 or atleast around there that anything with fins and scales, anything with a cloven hoof that chews the cud, and certain birds. Pigs do have cloven feet but they do not have a seperate stomach to chew the cud,

Pork also has trichinosis worms inside of it is horribly fattening but tastes really sweat in comparison to other meats so that's why people like it. Especially Hawaiians.

Eating pork is not prohibited by GOD. It has to do with your religion and ppl of Muslim faith do not eat animals with cloven feet IE. pork.

Pig's bodies contain many toxins, worms and latent diseases. Although some of these infestations are harbored in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far more predisposed to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because pigs like to scavenge and will eat any kind of food, including dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta (including their own), garbage, and other pigs.

Back in the old days when food bourne illness ran rampant due to the lack of sanitation and refrigeration, pork could kill you pretty easy. That's why the Jews and Muslims believe that pork is against gods will. Kosher is just a law that God gave the Jews to keep them safe from food bourne illness. It no longer applies due to our ability to safely prepare food.

to the early Hebrews, pork was considered an unclean animal, because its hooves were parted(cloven) yet it didnt chew cud(like cattle and other ruminants). only animals with cloven hooves that chewed cud were considered clean. later, when God saw that such trivial matters caused dissention among His people, He gave all things as meat so that one man may not condemn another for their choice of food. strangely, this controversy still goes on today, as seen in varying opinions among vegetarians and others who eat meat in general. and also among certain sect of Jewish faith and Muslim communities.
