When your in pain your body is trying to tell you something is wrong. I can't tell you what it is because I'm not a doc but I know I woke up one day in severe pain. It was sudden and lasted for 3 days, on the 4th day I went to the doc, they could not find anything so had me return for a ultra sound. I had serious gull bladder infection and needed it removed immediately so they admitted me that day. Don't wait, if it hurts that bad get it checked out. I hope it is nothing serious

I'm so sorry you're in pain! You probably just have muscle cramps, so take a pain reliever/anti-inflammatory, rest in a comfortable position, and a heating pad to relax the muscles. If the pain gets worse or doesn't get better after rest, it's something more serious. Go to the doctor. Pain in your side/back could be a kidney stone, problems in your spine, a pinched nerve, or lots of other things. I often have pains in my back when I do lots of lifting or bending. Hopefully this is the problem. Feel better soon!

Your profile does not allow the email. But for more information on referred pain, pick up The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It will help you learn how to get rid of pain by yourself. Since you are already hurting it is a good idea to also use a massage therapist who is willing to take a look at the book if they are not making progress.
