Many people may think: Why this symbolic number, given in the book of revelation of John, has to be 666. Another number could have been used instead. Can you decode it? It represents something that is based on 3 sixes, what is this? It is not as simple as it seems.

Why people always say that 666 is the number that represents Ceasar Nero. 666 is the number of the material world. This material world is the fake one because it can be modified based on organic reactions. Think about it! Jesus Christ said that the master of this world is the devil. Why did he say that? Because everything in this world can die, be recreated and be changed. So what's that element that creates the organic matter? The hydorgen based on etymology of it's word in ancient greek means " the gene that gives the power to create life". So what remains is the carbon. The carbon needs hydrogene in order to create organic matter. Otherwise it will be unproductive due to the lack of 'gene'. The carbon molecule, with molecular weight 12 consists of 6 protons 6 neutrons and 6 electrons in the outer shell. Meaning that the number 666 is the number of the material world... the only world that the devil can govern. The Spiritual world is the 999 excatly the opposite of 666.

I was expecting a better answer than mine. However the answer i have given to you is based on numerological studies in Universities that have researched the wisdom of numbers via a combined approach of theology with science.

I have decided to vote for the funniest answer.
Thank you all

I can't explain the meaning for the number 666, meaning evil; but in afterthought, does the number 333 mean only half evil?

Some numbers have already been 'separated' for a particular meaning. 666 is a number that identifies all things Man has made and carry his mark. That is why it says it is a number of Man. These things have been placed there for our understanding, like the indicators on the high way to let us use the proper exit number, kinda. Others like 9-11 mean a bad expectation-omen (9) and a certainty (11). For curiosity, just look at the street number for the NSA building, and it is 9-11 when you add the first and its third digit, plus the second and the fourth. I do not remember now what the actual number was, but it flashed through the LED screen of my TV very fast, and all I noticed was the weird addition as I stated before. Check it out with Google.

Six-hundred and Sixty-Six refers to Ceasar Nero. The Apostle John wrote Revelation most likely before 70 A.D.(There are lots of good reasons for that). John was warning the first century Christians about Nero in a way that Nero would not find out. The Second Coming of Jesus is still in the future of course. The letters in both the Greek alphabet and the Hebrew alphabets have numerical value, so when John wrote 666 in koine(common) Greek, it was with Greek letters. The Greek letters do not add up to 666, but the Hebrew letters in the name Ceasar Nero do add up to 666 and John knew that the first century Hebrew Christians would calculate according to the Hebrew alphabet. Also, the first Greek letter is the beginning of "Christ", the third Greek letter is the beginning of "Cross", and the serpent symbol is trapped in the middle. You can read about this in "The Last Disciple" by Hank Hanegraaff and Sigmund Brouwer. Also you might be able to find out something about it on www.equip.org . I think that as for the mark of the beast, the forehead symbolizes what a person thinks and believes, and the hand represents what a person does. There is also the mark of the lamb. So what a person thinks and does shows who they belong to. Christians in history have been persecuted and that sometimes included not being able to buy or sell because they were Christians. www.equip.org

Early Christians often used a form of numerology, a pagan tradition that was nevertheless convenient for the simple expression of ideas or as a memory device. In the case of the number 6, it is supposed to represent evil (just like 8 represents something holy). Tripling any number is supposed to make it "eternal" or "never-ending". So 666 is never-ending evil. Repressed people have used secret symbols to defy authority throughout the ages; the early Christians used 666 as a code to refer to the Emperor Nero, who was responsible for many violent persecutions of them. But they also understood that Nero's behaviour was just another expression of the never-ending evil that dwells in the world. This evil remains with us, and will be involved in the events of the Revelation. However, the number 666 itself is just a useful device; don't go looking for some clouds shaped like this number as a sign of impending doom!

There are many explanations for 666, many of which you've already recieved. Here's one of the lesser known:

Certain somatic mushrooms used by indigenous tribes and their shaman had a marking on the underside that resembled a cluster of 3 sixes. They knew by this marking that they were safe to use in ritual.

I've also read that the number is representative of Nero (also represented by 616).

The gospel of Mark, in its earliest translations, had 666 verses. Mark 16:9-20 were added later.

It is from a name and numbers game that was used quite commonly in John's time period. People would simply add up the numbers which corresponded to letters in their language and then write the number and let other people try to figure out who the number was referring to. The Roman Emperor Nero, that is the real explanation.

The Bible says that "the wise man" is able to discern the meaning of the number of the beast, but it doesn't say WHEN that discernment would be made. To date, many have debated over it, that maybe it represented the number of letters in the anti-Christ's name, or something like that.

Honestly, I don't have the slightest clue, and I am glad I wont be here to find out.

Researchers have since learned that due to the original language and grammar and how it does not translate to English without major problems, it was likely not 666 but in fact another number.

Honestly, it's just people with too much time on their hands and a love of conspiracy theories.
