i took a pregnancy test on jan,17th, 07. it was positive. started my period the next day. it lasted 1 week and was a normal period. told my doctor, she said if my period was late to take another test. but my period wasnt late, infact my period had ended on the 24th. 5 days later i started spotting. my docs only answer to me is to watch it and take some more pregnancy tests! im STILL spotting! ive taken 2 other pregnancy tests they both said negative. the spotting is extremly light but its definitly there. im just confused and im sick of wondering if i am or not. it sucks to wait and think you could be pregnant but not exactly knowing. and its harder to get a false + then a false - i thought that "spotting" happened when your period was supposed to come not 5 days after your period! but the doc just keeps telling me to monitor it and take a pregnancy test. im just so frustrated and confused!!!! ive been spotting for a little over a week now. is this normal? do you think im preggo????

It sounds like you had a VERY early miscarriage. The fact you got a solid period and THEN two negative test results is screaming that you aren't pregnant any more.

Just to be sure, I would go to your OB/GYN for a further check up.

The spotting can be from an overload of hormones.

Sometimes pregnancy tests give false positive reading, it has to do with the pregnancy hormone your body starts to produce upon pregnancy. I had the same thing happen a little different. My test came out positive, I bled for 5 days. My 2nd test was negative. A week later 3rd test was positive, and i had a miscarriage 2 mo. later.
My friend bled and spotter normal through her whole pregnancy, but her tests all came positive, my guess would no your not... Why don't you have your doc do a blood test? Good luck

Don't believe people who say there can not be false positives on tests...there are tumors which secrete HCG. But, 9 times out of 10, if the test came back positive, it was because of a baby and not a tumor.
Early miscarriage...EXTREMELY common, nothing to worry about. Almost every woman has something like this in her life and most don't even know it.

I think you need to schedule another appt with your doc. You need to have blood work done to find out for sure what's going on. You may have been pregnant and miscarried, or maybe you got a false positive with the first test. From my experience it is more common to have a false negative result than a false positive.

There are no false positives on pregnancy tests. That said, something may have gone wrong, and you may not be pregnant anymore...a doctor can tell you FOR SURE if you're pregnant or not. Get tested at a doctors office.

I think you should make a doc's appt. with a different doc or with a ob/gyn. Your doc isn't being very informative or concerned. When you go to your next doc's appt., demand that they take a blood test, so you will not be worrying and stressing all the time. Good Luck!

I don't think you are pregnant but i would certainly be worried about spotting still. Contact another doctor and get a 2nd opinion. Tell this new doctor what your old doctor told you and don't be scared to be firm and tell them that you are scared and you want to know why this is happening. Sounds like your first doctor is a lazy jack*ss.

It sounds like you had a very early miscarriage. False positives don't really happen with hpt unless you are getting fertility shots that contain hcg. False negatives are much more common, but not after you've already gotten a positive result.

if you think that you are pregnant than why don't you see another Dr.? and if you had a miscarriage or think you might be having one than get to the Dr. as soon as possible. the reason i say this is because i went through something like that and i got peritonitis and i almost died if you think you are pregnant and something just doesn't seem right than get your *** to a really good Dr. as soon as possible. don't take any chances
