I'm sorry, thats kind of a stupid question. We have not become god(s), for the simple reason that the purpose of god(s) is/are to explain what we do not understand. There is still an abundance of questions that we humans do not yet have the answers to.
I would say for your second question "yes". I believe that with the knowledge attained up to today, people should be smart enough that belief in God is no longer necessary. Maybe 2000 years ago, when man faced hardships they were unable to comprehend or prevent; however, currently it's existence is solely that of tradition (In other words, people believe in God because their parents told them to. It's the same concept as being racist: the majority of people will wholeheartedly believe black people are evil if they are told that for as long as they can remember).

This is what i believe since i am an atheist. I don't believe there is a god, i believe in me and i am the god himself. I have never seen god, but i have seen myself. God doesn't control me or everything around me, i control it all. I am more powerful then any deity or god there is out there. Who knows, maybe im the only real person out there and everyone else is just a computer...
Humans are probably the most powerful in the universe. I believe that a god cannot surpass what humans will become in the distant future.

what has the world been teaching you?
God is higher than any human. God is in control of the universe. God knows EVERYTHING, things that could have happened and what that would have caused in the world thousands of years later, knowing EVERYONES EVERY THOUGHT. He remembers EVERYTHING. humans only know what they have been taught and have witnessed. human minds are limited. humans can only control objects and themselves, God can control EVERYTHING. are you getting this, human knows practically nothing, God knows EVERYTHING.
humans cant save themselves from the pits of hell, only Jesus and God can do that. and what people mean by knowledge in the text of the bible is knowing right from wrong. that is a characteristic of God, but only a characteristic.
and without God, life would come to a stop and vanish. because God created everything and moves in everything and if He's gone, then everything goes too. for example, reproduction- how the 46 chromosomes become a human being can only happen with the help of God.

Man may have a LITTLE knowledge......but nothing compared to God. When man can create another Earth, making his own dirt and oceans....then maybe we can talk about it again.
