Artificial sweetners increase the risk of cancer, but some of my favorite brands have them! And I chew all the time.

Are there any healthy and yummy brands out there that have "xylitol" instead? (It's like an all-natural sweetner that is supposedly popular in Europe and slowly popularity in the US.)

I assume you mean the sweetener called saccharin, which has been linked to cancer.

Excel (I think the equivalent is Eclipse in the US), trident, sugar free juicy fruit are all gums that use aspartame (don't know if you want to avoid this too) or aceulfame potassium instead.

Note: I live in Canada, where saccharin has been banned as a food additive since the late '70's, so these brands might contain saccharin in the US.

Sure, here in the U.S. there are many different types of sugarfree gum. Xylitol, sorbitol and mannitol are sweeteners, and are probably better for us than either aspartame, Nutrasweet, or other synthetic sweeneners. Sugar really is the healthiest, though, since it is probably more "natural" than the others.

i don't like any of those artificial sweetners since they are made from all kinds of different chemicals. I would rather have the real sugar. At least that is made from a plant.

There is actually not enough of these sweeteners in the gum to worry about (as far as ingesting)

I stay away from aspartame because it gives me stomach cramps.

I wouldn't get all bent out of shape about it, it's nothing to worry about.

If you drink 12+ cans a day, of diet soda with aspartame in it, then maybe I would think about having a rat baby with two heads and no ears!
