My daughter had this problem and what worked for us was I made her use the bathroom right before she went to bed. If she fell asleep first I would wake her up and have her use the restroom. Give it a try, it might help.

My son will soon be 6 (27th of Feb) and he wets the bed...I buy him Sleepovers or Goodnites...whatever is cheatest really. Any how I find that when he wears them he doesn't pee the bed. I also have a plastic cover on his bed so protect the mattress. I think he feels confident that waking up the next day with a dry one gets him excitied. I also have taught him that accidents happen and bedwetting is one of those things. His comments are like, "Oh well accidents happen, or nothing the washing machine won't fix.
I also told him that there is nothing wrong with wetting the bed as I did until I was 14 years old...more than half of my life now.

Just put pull ups on the poor child. It is very common for children to grow faster than their bladders do and therefore are not able to hold it for any period of time. My oldest daughter has the same problem and so did my sister and my mother as a child. Rather than putting them through the stress of doctor visits, reward systems that they have no control over, or negative reinforcement, just buy the pull ups and say "Don't worry honey, you just need a little more time to grow, nothing to be embarrassed about!" and call it a day. You'll both be so much happier!! Good luck!

I don't think its that abnormal. We're still working on night time with our 3 1/2 year old. I have 2 layers of waterprood mattress pads and sheets on the bed, so when there is an accident I just have to peel of the top layer and the bed is still "made" without a lot of fuss in the middle of the night.

This is normal for a child his age. my cousin used to wet the bed until she was seven! The good thing to do is just protect the bed from it! He will soon grow out of it! Wetting the bed is not a big issue and is something that every kid just grows out of! just portect the bed, and he should be fine!
