Now that women are more prominent in the business world they are more likely to either keep their own last name or hyphenate it so that they can use their maiden name as well as their husbands. I agree that it was better when woman just took on the last name of their husband regardless. It makes the world a much less complicated place.

Since Women wanted equal rights as the Men some Women do not want to be referred as Mrs. so and so, I have been Married for Forty some yrs. and I still go by my husband's name not because my Husband want's it like that but, because as a respect to him, because we have been through a lot, Illness, sickness, and three yrs. ago the brutal murder of our oldest Grandson who was 23 yrs. old. All of this combined has made us grow closer together. Would I want it any other way? No, I am happy as being Mrs. Carlos Vasquez. And it isn't because we are old fashion but, because we Love each other, and we have been through thick, and thin. Thank you, for your question, you made my day.

My mom became right into a Nineteen Fifties mom who stayed homestead and that i'm happy she did. besides the incontrovertible fact that it relatively is form of zany even "Bewitched" became right into a stable occasion of the well-known homestead life in the 60's and "the Dick Vandyke teach"

Women's lib. Women started to feel like they lost their identity when they became known as Mrs. xxxx. Personally, I am old fashioned and don't mind being referred to in that way. After all, I love him and married him because I wanted to be Mrs. xxxx.

Well since in the past, the reason the woman took the mans last name was to show others that she was his property and these days, to my knowledge.....women want to be their own individual and are no ones property. Hell even my wife is not my property haha.

What?! Do you people live with Mr. and Mrs. Cleaver or what? A woman has the choice about her own name, because after all, it is HERS.

Mrs. died because the Miss ladies resented being categorized as unmarried - so we all became known as Ms. --- that way no one could tell.

Women want to be known for who they are... not who they are married too... like the "good ole days".
