Hey guys. There has been so many times when ive said to myself that i was going to let the lord in my life. Well i failed at that every time, and i believe that now is the proper time in my life to let him in. I need him right now, and i want to have him in my life. Do you all have advice so i can keep him in my life and concentrate on him. Do you think fasting from a certain item would be a good way to get closer to the lord?

I went through the same thing for 19 years, and he let me bring myself to a point in which I absolutely needed him, but he was there to rescue me when I needed him most, even as unworthy as I am. I cannot stress to you enough that you must put effort into him being first in your life, just like you have to put effort into a marriage, or any relationship. Study his Word; every time you will learn something new. Start with the Gospels, then read a chapter from the O.T. and a chapter from the New Testament every day. Pray without ceasing, as the Bible says. Remember, God rewards obedience and those who wait on him, and don't run to the world for temporary pleasures. I am living proof of this.

Fasting from something you like a little too much, might be a good way to start. Fasting is usually used concerning nourishment, I don't believe that by giving up food you will be closer to Christ. In fact I think that idea is kinda silly, but my personal experience is when there is something that the Lord wants me to know or do, I do not eat or sleep until I have discovered it. This is not something we can do out of our own will.

You need to stop talking to yourself and listen. You know -- self I said, "I should have done this or that and done it sooner and not later." lol

Think about your question in relation to a young man that might be interested in you. Would you treat that young man like that --- that is to say -- let him into your life when you get around to it; or, after brushing him off a few dozen times you finally give him a call -- because you need something?!!!

God does not run away from us we depart from Him. I suggest you pick up a little book called "The Normal Christian Life" by Watchman Nee. This book will last you many years.

While you are busy in your mind "letting him in" you should remember that you must willingly give yourself to him. He bought you at Calvary.

The price He paid was for you and by right of redemption you are his property. To many Christians think redemption is something that lets them off the hook!

No, we were bought with a price and are even slaves in this relationship. You must let him in "And" give yourself to Him daily. There is a time when you do this for the first time; but the doing is something that must take place daily. Just like most of your relationships with family and friends must take place daily if you expect them to last. Think about it.

Just type in the name Watchman Nee on Yahoo Search and it will get you started.

Hi, here is how to put your faith in Jesus: First, Realize that you are a sinner separated from God and that you need forgiveness. Second, Repent of your sins by turning away from your sins to Jesus and being truly sorry for them. Finally, Recieve Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life, trusting in Him to save you by His grace alone and to take control of your life as your Lord. If you do this, and you sincerely put your trust in Jesus, then you can know that He has come into your heart, made you born again, and will never go away. The Bible says that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion". For more on this subject you can go to www.equip.org

always waiting for us to come to Him,but You must keep Him in your heart not try to use Him as a alternative.

Knowing your need is the first step...The Bible teaches that those who love the truth will seek him and they will receive the gift of faith and through faith comes revelation and a true relationship with a living God. It is important to stay close to God in his word and prayer and meditation it is through this personal relationship with him that God reveals his truths.

If you want to be consistently acting like a Christian, then you should spend some time alone each day reading your Bible and praying.

This article is good, and it illustrates my point:

Go to a practical church, stay away from the fundamentalists, and if you live in the Bible belt, avoid most protestants.
