Personally, I do see a whole lot of similarities. However, if you do it can probably be explained by the spread of Brahmi, the script from which Devanagri (and the other northern Indic scripts) descended.

This script emerged in the northern part of India relatively early in the alphabet's history. Then, this would have been carried by conquerors/traders/missionaries to China where it influenced the characters that form Chinese.

The answer right above this one can be ignored since it is the linguistic equivalent of a Christian creationist talking about biology. The first answer is a good answer. Personally, I don't see any similarity. The two writing systems have completely different and independent origins. Devanagari has its origins in the Asoka script which came from an eastern Persian Aramaic script and ultimately from Phoenician (where all alphabets ultimately have their origin). Chinese logosyllabic writing has its origins in pictograms from about the same time that Phoenician was moving out of the Levant. The two writing systems have completely different origins.

Throughout the centuries, the Sanskrit language has been written in a variety of alphabets. The mode of writing most widely used throughout India, however, is called devanägari, which literally means "the city writing of the devas, or gods."
Sanskrit language is so nice. Therefore it is called Sanskrit, means reform. And the alphabets are called devanägari. Iin the upper planetary system these alphabets are used, devanägari, used in the cities of the demigods. And the language is called, "most reformed." And Sanskrit is the mother of all languages.
