This works when you have your phone set to NOT display your name and number on their phone when you call someone.
Some people are annoyed and won't pick up one of the 'private calls', so to show your name & number for just this call, press *82, then dial their number.
Try the settings and the overrides with a friend next to you, then it makes a lot more sense.
