Alright. I gave my girlfriend an engagment ring for x-mas in 2005. She wore it for a while but for the past few months she hadn't been wearing it. I ask her why she hasnt been wearing it? She tells me that she doesnt like to wear jewlery! Now I never really saw her waer a lot of rings or anything but she does always wear a necklace she got from her mom! Should this be a red flag? I'm thinking it should be, just need some feedback?

Neither of my parents wear wedding bands. Neither of them like jewelry. She could be telling you the truth.

It could be or it could be nothing.

Engagement rings are typically set with the diamond up and out. It is very prone to being damaged. It also catches on things and bang against things all the time. Given something so expensive, she may not want to damage it. That or she really doesn't like rings. If she's not a ring type of girl, then she's not comfortable wearing rings.

Necklaces are not rings. They aren't really the same.

I think that you should give her a break. It's probably nothing. If she doesn't wear rings, chances are she just isn't comfortable wearing rings.

If you feel hurt that she isn't wearing something so important and so symbolic of your love for her, talk to her about how you feel instead of second guessing her motives.

I could be or not. I don't wear jewelry really, so I think I would have a hard time wearing a ring every day. Necklaces are a little different. However, I would talk her again and tell her that it is concerning you. Ask again if that is the only reason and maybe there is something bothering her that you can work on together. Good luck... maybe it is just that she doesn't like wearing rings :)

Actually, that's the very reason my husband and I don't wear rings. I can't stand wearing rings more than a few hours. It's just physically uncomfortable, and we didn't want (symbolically) our marriage to feel like that. Instead of wedding bands, we had wedding pendants made, which were given in the ceremony and we both wear regularly. We've been married for almost three years. Talk to her. If you trust her, there is nothing to worry about.

i guess if she says she doesn't like wearing jewellery then she doesn't, i can understand why her not wearing the engagement ring bothers you so why don't you explain to her why this bothers you and scening she doesn't like wearing jewellery ask her if she would put the ring on the chain that she wears,,, remember part of a relationship is compromise

I think that if she wanted to make a statement and if it was important than she would wear it.

Yes, big red flag. I can understand not wearing it out fishing or whatever, but wearing it and then not wearing it? Something stinks and it isn't me!

Hmmmm, well, think, how has she been acting? Has she been moving away from you? Or maybe she just loves her mom alot! But you should tell her you love her, and see how she reacts!

GOOD LUCK!!
