I tried looking in the manual, but it's way over my head.

I should change my name to "Confusion," since "Cofusious" is already taken. The manual, in my mind, is written for specialists in 'puters.

Speakers usually don't need any power (they are passive devices), but there are exceptions

a) Wireless speakers
b) PC/set-top/lap-top speakers with a small amplifier
c) Hi-Fi speakers with built-in amplifier

If you think your speakers need power, then there should be an obvious power plug on them. Reading your manual should help as well.

The only way you get simple, specific advice is to tell us the make and model of your speakers
