It used to be believed that dogs can only see in black and white, but now studies show that dogs can see blues and yellows. Reds they don't see, and the blues and yellows are a bit muted compared to how we see them, but they can see them.

Dogs definitely see in color. However, dogs are color blind, so they can't distinguish between reds & greens the same way that color blind people can't. It is true that for many years, scientists believed dogs see in black and white, but a number of studies in recent years have shown the opposite. For example, in one study, dogs were trained to tap on a panel that was a different color than the other panels lined up. If the panels were in the red-green colors (which dogs can't distinguish between), the dogs could not do it. But they could do it with other colors, which shows that dogs can distinguish between colors.

Scientists do believe the colors that dogs see are probably more muted that what people see. However, dogs can see with very little light and they have much better peripheral vision than humans. So they have a few advantages on us.

I think they do see in black and white because it is like that in the movie Cats and Dogs but it would be really weird if they saw in color they would kind of be smart I was also thinking the same thing at first.

black and white, but they do feel our feelings, which is why they know when you are mad at them, when you are sad, when you are in trouble. I saw a true story on the news where a guy was having a heart attack in his house alone and one of his rotwielers got the cordless phone off the counter with it's mouth, put the phone in his hand on the floor and the guy dialed 911 and the dog saved his life. They might only see in black and white, but they know alot more about what is going on than people give them credit for.

Dogs see in black and white. There are also several shades of grey to help them distiguish things. They have some human-like feelings, but they are basically color-blind. They can make up with that by their hearing and smell!

Science has shown that dogs DO see in colour BUT not as many colours as we do and NOT as many shades as we do.

I can't believe how many people thought dogs see in black and white.....that's quite concerning how uneducated people are.
