There is no good way to answer this question except, maybe.
1) it depends on the type of cancer
2) it depends on how resistant the cancer is to treatment, and it's location in the body (brain tumors are much harder to treat than lung).
3) it depends on how healthy she is otherwise
4) it depends on whether or not she has involvement of central lymph nodes or only peripheral ones
5) it depends on whether or not she has metastases (the cancer has spread) to other organs, and what organs are affected.
But remember this, before you despair, Lance Armstrong had metastatic testicular cancer in his brain. Look what he is doing today when you think about your neighbor.
Chemotherapy and other treatments tend to make people Very, very fatigued, so if you want to help and support her, make sure you are there to assist her with the everyday stuff, like getting to appointments, housekeeping, yard work and shopping, cooking, etc. Some days she may just be too pooped to do anything and then she will really need your help.

Yes, she has a chance. There have been survivors for all types, grades, and stages of cancer. Much really depends upon the type of cancer, tumor locations, patients age and overall health.
Stage 3 is difficult to treat, but not impossible.

Be positive. Stay strong.

It's certainly possible. There are many people who have survived that advanced a stage of cancer. Whether she will be one of them I don't think anyone can say for sure.

It all depends on what kind of cancer it is, the health in general of the person, family or other emotional support, health insurance(sad but true),what medicines they may take, other health problems they may currently have(high blood pressure, diabetes, etc)the list goes on and on. The thing to remember is that everybody is different in all ways. Some handle stress better, some are naturally upbeat,depression..............I'll tell you a little story. I had two sister's in law diagnosed with terminal cancer two weeks apart. One had breast cancer, the other had tumors on her spine and reproduction area. Both were given 6mon-1yr. One became very depressed, isolated, lonely. The other got furious and was calling the doctors every foul thing she could think of. No one was going to tell her to go home and die! And she didn't. The other one........sadly yes 9months to the day of her diagnosis. Today twenty three years later and I still have my other sister in law, she was right to fight and fight she did. And it has worked, it goes and comes back over and over. And each year she proves those doctors were wrong to tell her to go home and die. Believe, but be a fighter also. Good luck.

It depends on the cancer and her history, diet, and immune system. My father had stage 4 and passed away in 3 months (lung and brain cancer). Stage three starts to spread and take over another organ (lymph nodes too). It is very sad but she can change her diet to strenghten herself. I bought three books at Borders. I found out a startling statistic that 98% of people diagnosed iwth lung cancer die with in a year. It also depends on her type of type of cells...some small cell react better to treatment and dont multiply as fast. My dads multiplied 2x the amount in 1 month...he was sick from Sept to Oct-diagnosed Oct 6th and passed away Jan 1st. (RIP Dad.. :( )

stage 4 is the worst it can get...also depends on therapy used........my mom died last week of stage 4 and she was doing pretty well the week b4 some cancers cannot be completely cured they just keep giving temp. fixes....example...blood, platlets, kemo even becomes useless as the more advanced the cancer gets the sicker kemo makes some people, age can make a diff....anyway tell your friend to keep fighting and pray.........

As someone who survived element III breast optimum cancers clinically determined at age 40 six, I promise she has impressive diagnosis. the subsequent 6 months will be extremely crap, and he or she or he may pick to experience so undesirable at situations that she will be in a position of be able to ask your self if she needs to placed herself via this, yet on the top of her treatment there is an noticeably sturdy probability her existence will flow lower back to primary. Be as plenty help as you're in a position to till ultimately she receives shrink lower back to her previous self lower back.

The chances aren't so good. But anything is possible and the doctors today will do everything they can. I hope you and your neighbor the best.
