I have an Aussie recipe for Apricot Chicken that I want to try and the recipe list Apricot nectar as an ingredient. I have never seen anything like this in the UK or the US. Could someone please explain to me what this is and what a good substitute would be. Thanks in advance.

(1) Apricot nectar: Apricot nectar is a concentrate of apricots mixed with water and sugar. Apricot nectar is very alike Apricot Juice.

(2) What is "Nectar"?
Nectar is a juice drink that starts with whole fruit and juice, with other natural ingredients added. Nectars are typically thicker than other juices and drinks, because they are made from fruit purees.

They are available in the US, generally in the supermarket with the canned juices. Or you could use pureed apricots, add juice (or water and a little sugar) until it is the consistency of a thin syrup, slightly thicker than a juice.

Apricot nectar is just apricot juice! Of course they have to give it a different name to mess people up. Jam may be too sweet. Do you have access to canned apricot fruit (unsweetened)? You could use the juice and mash up a few of the halves and throw that in. Sun Rype is the only maker of apricot nectar that I have seen (in Canada). I hope that helps a bit. Good luck!!

Nectar is more of a juice...You could probably substitute apricot jam or marmalade, but if the recipe calls for much more than a teaspoon, you might have to add some liquid, too. Good luck!

HAHA thats funny because I have a apricot chicken recipe and I keep thinking about making it but I dont have any apricot nector.

Apricot nector is not like jam, It is liquid like juice, like apricot juice but thicker. I wouldnt use jam, maybe if you can find apricots in a can, use the juice from that you can also use the whole apricots my mum does that. (Im australian) So I think the best alternative would be apricots in a can.

No, apricot nectar is a very thick apricot juice. You should be able to find it in the juice aisle of your local grocery store. If they don't carry it, they should be able to order some for you.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU63T

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

Nectar is actually the juice; its very pulpy and thick, but meant for drinking. You can usually find it at a trader joes or whole foods. However if your only option is jam, just make sure you thin it out a little. :)
