I am trying to format an essay and one of the things I have to do is put a page number on the top right, but it's just not a typical page number, it also has to have the person's last name next to it. i.e. "Johnson 1, Johnson 2," on the top right of each page. However, while I can figure out how to get the numbers on the top right, is there a way I can put my name there too, as is required by my professor? Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am an expert at computers!!!
click on "view" from the menu at the top
select "header and footer".
now tab to the far right (2x) until the cursor is on the end of the box (trust me it works) type your last name in the box that appears. then, click on the picture of a pice of paper with # on it. That makes it the page number for whatever page you are on. it's that easy!

hi . yes there is the way through which u can put the name with the page number in word document. well go to View option from the option bar and then select the option of header and footer from it. select this option of header and footer. when u will select the option the header on the top will come. with this a option menu bar will again appear on ur document. from that option bar u will click insert auto text and u will then choose the page number option. it will only show u page number. then u have to manually write the name of ur professor with it. and will do the adjusment as u require.. i hope i would have solved ur problem

Not to hot on word but maybe you could use a header and make the name go to the right instead of left or centre. then aline it with the page number
