What kind of comb do you use? If it's a regular toothed comb...it's not gonna work. I have a mixed 3 year old daughter, she's multi-racial, mostly white, with mid back length hair. I'd never dream of running the risk of ruining her hair by straightening it. I use a wide toothed comb a detangler and some hair lotion and I comb it while its saturated with the detangler then after I'm done with combing I put in the hair lotion, from there I either put it in a ponytail or two braids. And the people out there that don't know your situation or haven't dealt with mixed kids hair really can't judge you, but find what best works. My cousin's son is black and hispanic, his hair is long and what she does is style it while its wet. Your best bet is to rinse it every other night and use a cream leave in conditioner to help with the curls and to soften it, braid it into big braids at night while its wet, it'll help with the tangles. And if its more like "black" hair, don't try combing it everyday. Put it in little pony tails with twists, to hold the twist use a hair cream and this stuff called JAM. It'll hold for more than two days.

The only thing is- you ARE teaching her that her hair the way it is naturally is not good enough. I don't mean disrespect, but that is lazy. Don't say that it's a pain in the butt to brush it and then say you are only looking for new hairstyles, she is FOUR! You are a wonderful mother I'm sure but why would you want to damage her hair with such a high heat? Take her to a salon and start having them give her professional conditioning treatments- they are usually about $10 and last around 6 weeks. This way you both can enjoy her beautiful curls- and don't let her go to bed with wet hair- it causes tangles and matting. Especially in curly hair.

I would worry that you would burn her. If she sits very, very still flat ironing might be a possiblity, but this is very unlikely for someone that is 4. My kids are 5 & 7 and there is not way I would try it.
You should really check with a good salon. There are quite a few stylists now that are trained in some new relaxer techniques. This would make her hair so much more manageable. Especially the back of the neck hair that just gets so clumped.
If you do flat iron, make sure you have one of the really nice irons or you are going to just burn the hair

I understand her hair is difficult to manage. You need to layer cut the hair to make it more manageable. Ask the stylist to use thinning shears to remove some of the bulk. Do not use a flat iron on a four year old. Her scalp is too thin to risk burning her. The burns at this age can do lifelong damage. You are not a bad mother she just needs a better cut. I wish people who where not licensed stylist trained in ethnic hair would stop answering these questions.

It should not be no hard job to comb your little girl hair, if you dont want to comb her hair each day get her hair braided, it will keep for at least a week, and to make it easy just brush her hair and comb it to the back and use those pretty little bands they comes in different colours and band it that is very easy.

in basic terms flat iron your hair a pair of days each week (like 2-3), or on the weekends once you spot adult adult males. you additionally can use a warmth resistant spray on your hair before you flat iron to shrink harm to your hair. in case you rather do unlike how your hair seems and don't opt to wreck it in any respect, you are able to braid it at night so it is going to likely be all surprisingly and wavy interior the morning.

Let the curls flow, or you'll have an emotional basket case of a daughter. Your teaching her that she is ugly and what God gave her is wrong. Your sick. By the way I have curly hair. Use products with dimethicone (frizz ease, silicone hair serum) and then comb gel through it. Let it dry naturally and scrunch while drying so that ringlets form

Its bad for her hair, dont be lazy, shes ur daughter! I wouldnt straighten it until like fourth grade, then u can get it relaxed so you wont have to deal with it anyway. By then she'll be able to comb herself lol. DONT DO IT!

It is safe to flat iron her hair but not ideal, she's only four!!! Try using different products when you wash her hair, like shampoos, conditioners or leave in tretment that detangles or straightens to make it easier to handle before you get her on a routine of such an addicting beauty routine so so so early in life!

NO!!!! A HOT IRON ON YOUR 4 YEAR OLD/ ARE YOU NUTS???
shes your little girl!!! enjoy her for who she is! are you trying to give her a complex??? try braiding, pony tails, or pigtails. if your at your end, go to the salon and ask for a kid/mom friendly style you can both cope with!
