I'm trying to apply for the life insurance license and it says I need a appointing insurer to fill out the appointment/affiliation Notice. How can I get an insurer to do that? Should I contact the companys?

All licenced brokers or agents need a sponsoring company. I am an auto/property broker, and have always had a sponsoring company, which has always been arranged by my employer. You do not need the sponsor to qualify for the licence, however you need it to actually have it issued. Without a sponsor, you have no product to sell. Is this not part of your course of study? I have taken university level courses for my licencing. I have studied the life course as well, but decided I did not have enough time to devote to continuing education every year for both sets of licences.

Yes, you need an insurance company to appoint you to write business with them.

If you are getting just the life license I would contact Northwestern Mutual or Mass Mutual. They have great sales training. Even if you don't stay with them you'll have a great foundation.

normally people that are going for their license is already working for an insurance company. you may even be able to try a broker that could sign for you, but don't count on it. no one will be willing to sign off on someone that doesn't work for them.
good luck. the test is hard, so study hard.
